THE FRUITS OF GRACE

Image
Sermon on Rom. 1:8-15, preached on January 10, 20 19 Bible Readings:  (OT)  Isaiah 32:1-20 / (NT)  Romans 1:8-15 Main Points: Introduction I. Giving thanks to God always II. Praising God for His saving work III. Encouraging one another in God Conclusion INTRODUCTION We continue listening to God’s word recorded in Romans, especially in ch. 1, and the message we hear is the Lord’s goodness to us all. This is the fifth sermon in this series. Last week, the message was from v. 7 with a title, ‘Grace and peace to you,’ and it was about how Christians in their new and born-again life must find God’s grace. And finding God’s grace, how we should realise and enjoy His eternal peace which is the result of His grace. That’s what the Apostle Paul wishes for his beloved brothers and sisters everywhere, saying, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” The same should be our greeting to one another. Today, we have these verses, vs. 8-15, an...

THE RESSURECTION

Image
He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! – 1 Corinthians 15:20 (mp3) Introduction  The idea of “firstfruits” is lost on many. An agricultural reference, it refers to the offering usually given during the first part of the harvest – but it means much more than that. The firstfruits were not just fruits, but the best of the produce of the land, given to God as an indication that all of it belonged to him, to secure his blessing on the rest of the harvest. When Paul calls Christ the “firstfruits” he has all of this in mind, and likely more. What, then, does this term add to our understanding of Jesus’ resurrection? 1. In his resurrection, Christ is preeminent Christ is the firstfruits because he is the best of the bunch; he is perfect without spot or blemish. Our resurrection is “like” his, but it is not his. Jesus was, and is, the best of humanity. He is more glorious, more awesome, than anyone who has ever been or ever will be. He is the firstfruits to God because he is simply gre...

LIVING LIFE THAT HONORING GOD

Image
A Life of Honouring God: Holy Communion and Tithing Do we take holy communion for healing? No, because that is as good as saying we take it to receive the remission of sins. No we already have the remission of sins, and therefore we already possess healing. Just as far as sin is from you so is sickness. We take the holy communion to remember and honour Christ for giving us those gifts. Now this will be a very long post filled with deep revelations. Only the mature can take them because it has to do with giving something. Have you noticed in the natural that children are naturally selfish. All they do is receive from the parent and never give back and that is fine because they are children. But a time comes when they would have to grow and instinctively a desire comes to give back to the parents out of appreciation. Can they ever repay back the parents? No! but they can give whatever they have to acknowledge/remember/honour them. So this is how you determine who is mature or ...

HE SMOTE THE FIRST BORN OF EGYPT

Image
He Smote The Firstborn Of Egypt Have you been struggling to make that breakthrough you need from one area to another?. Have you been looked down upon because you do not have the experience, qualification, charisma, personality etc. Or maybe you are persecuted for being a christian and people just try and halt your progress. Or maybe they are jealous of the favour they see on your life that gets you results. Well I have good news as we believe in a God who smote the firstborn of Egypt. Catch the revelation as you read this scripture:     Psalms 135:8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of people and animals.     Now the reason why this scripture interests me is because it was only when God struck the firstborn, that Pharaoh let the Israelite go. Why? Why was it that particular plague that made Pharaoh to let go of the Israelite’s. It is because the firstborn signifies the strength and might of the nation at that time. Catch the reve...

And the Gentiles shall come to thylight, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.   If you keep reading on you’ll find that the wealth of the gentiles is coming to thi...

THE SPIRIT OF BALAM

Image
THE BALAAM SPIRIT In the book of Numbers 22,  we come across a man of a complex manifestation and his name was Balaam, a Moabite. He was able to talk to God and God was also able to answer him. What a privilege, some of us on earth have the same opportunity; the question is how we handle it. Some of us like to do our will but claim we desire to follow God’s guidance. This was the case with Balaam. Israel on their way to the promise land was a terror to the nations. One of those nations was Moab offspring of Lot and his daughter after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Balak was the king of Moab and the fear of Israel got the best of him. Sometimes we act like Balak, we allow fear overwhelm us and we start looking for help from every strange source possible; making all kinds of compromise but generally out of God’s will. Balak sent for a prophet called Balaam. Balak had his information mixed up with his desires. He wanted Balaam to curse Israel, a people God already bles...
